Mehalabeya with Mango

This is a dessert recipe from Egypt.

 

Ingredients:

4 Cups whole milk
1 Cup sugar
4 Tablespoons corn starch
1 Cup fresh mango juice
1/2 Cup water
1/2 Teaspoon vanilla

Preparation:

Blend sugar with 3 cups milk. Heat until boiling.
Mix corn starch with 1 cup of milk. Add it in small amounts to sugar and milk mixture while stirring quickly until it boils.

Add mango juice to the mixture and stir quickly until it boils.
Turn heat to low. Cook for 5 minutes.

Add water and vanilla to the mixture while stirring for 3 minutes.

Take off heat and wait until the temperature cools.

Pour the Mehalabeya into individual dessert dishes.

Top with white raisins, dried fruit, mixed nuts, or fresh mango.
Refrigerate, serve cold.
