Baked Nian Gao

This Asian dessert recipe comes from Thailand. Baked Nian Gao is a fried banana dessert.

 

Ingredients:

• 1 pound bananas, about 6 (or small Asian bananas)

Batter :

• 1 Cup rice flour
• 1 Cup all purpose flour
• 1 Teaspoon baking soda
• 1 Cup water
• 1/2 Cup coconut milk
• 1/2 Teaspoon salt
• 1/4 Cup sesame seeds
• 3 Tablespoons sugar
• 3/4 Cup shredded coconut
• 4 Cups oil

Preparation:

Peel and slice each banana lengthwise into four slices.
Combine all the batter ingredients and stir until mixed
together.

Heat the oil in a wok to 375 degrees. Coat bananas with batter and deep fry until golden brown.

Remove from oil and drain. Serve with ice cream.
